Karnataka, India: When I look at the traditional round boats of south India, I feel that they must be very difficult to row. I have seen similar boats in Vietnam and UK. Today's images are of round boats on Kavery river.

Karnataka, India: In India, vermilion has a special place during prayers in Hindu temples, where it is used on statues as well on foreheads of praying persons.

Bangalore, India: During traditional functions in India, sometimes there are boys dressed as dancing girls. I am not sure if they are transgender persons, or just boys who enjoy dressing up and dancing. I think that Indian society can be very cruel towards transgender persons, and yet they can have a prominent role in the traditional functions.

Sandy temples - Templi sabbiosi -

Karnataka, India: In Mandya district in the south of Karnataka, near Kaveri river are the beautiful thousand year old temples of Talakad or Talakadu. It seems as if there is an island of desert surrounded by lush green vegetation. When I saw it, I thought of Ramayana, where Sita asks mother Earth to take her back in her womb. I thought that this could have been that place, when together with Sita, the surrounding temples also went inside the earth. However the locals here have another story about these temples that includes a curse by a widow queen of Srirangapatnam against the Wodeyar king of Mysore. Archeological department has removed sand from 3 temples but people here say that there are many more hidden under the big sand dunes.

Chameleon - Camaleonte -

Karnataka, India: Chameleons are known for their ability to change colours but they also have other peculiarities. Such as their long tongues, that sometimes can be longer than their whole body and their protruding eyes that move independently of each other. The chameleon in the pictures above, didn't seem afraid of me and didn't move but when I went too close to it, it turned its throat red and blew it out.

Meditation - Meditazione -

Pyramid valley, Bangalore, Karnataka, India
Pyramid valley, Bangalore, Karnataka, India
Pyramid valley, Bangalore, Karnataka, India

Karnataka, India: About 35 km from Bangalore, on the Kanakpura road is Pyramid valley with a huge pyramid. Surrounded by greenery, Buddha statues and soft music, the pyramid is empty inside, a place for meditation. In the centre of the hall, the double helix of stairs take to a platform in the centre of the pyramid, where cosmic rays are supposed to bath you while you meditate. Even if you do not believe in cosmic rays, still the place is beautiful.
