DeleteI hadn't given much thought it to this aspect, I must confess, about why "victory" should be shown as a woman? However, now thinking about it, for some reason, in Western arts, right from the time of Greek and Roman empires, positive human virtues have always been shown symbolically as women. I remember seeing statues of liberty, honesty, modesty, etc. There are a few masculine virtues, represented by men, such as courage, but I have seen them less often!
